Welcome to our online Flat Travel Homeschool Scrapbook of all our adventures both at home with our Flat Visitors and our road trips

A Flat Traveler is a laminated paper character (it could be a person but it doesn't have to be)that gets sent to other families in an envelope
for a "visit" and comes home with a log of their adventures, some photos of them in their travels, outings and activities, and sometimes some other souvenirs.
It's a fun way to learn about geography and history, and to engage in writing and drawing, among other things. Not to mention making some friends!
The Flat Travelers Homeschool group was formed to give homeschool families a group of participants to contact world wide. As a member of this group you should be prepared to host Flat Travelers from other families as well.

CALGARY STAMPEDE starts and we are looking forward to going with all of our Flat Travelers that are visiting with us. There will be so many adventures and excitement. Lots of photos to be put into their scrapbooks that will go home with them!
Here are some photos that I found on the internet about the Stampede!
the Chuck Wagon Races....

Stampede Parade!

Stampede Midway!

Stampede is starting and there will be so many pancake breakfasts offered all throughout the city...and they are FREE breakfasts.
These are so much fun to participate in, and our Flat Friends who are visiting are going to have so many stories to share in their scrapbooks that they take home.

We have more visitors that arrived to share in our summer adventures with us...we are just so happy to be able to host our Flat Travelers friends.
Flat Charlotte
Flat Akladybug
We have planned that we will be making tacos tonight for supper, and we will be taking photos of all our flat travelers helping make tacos. We thought that we would share in a Mexican theme dinner tonight!
One of our geography projects is studying Mexico and learning some simple spanish words. We have many friends who travel to Central America and have learned spanish that we thought it would be helpful to learn this language. So while our Flat Travel Guests are here , they will be sharing in our Mexican lessons and spanish language course!
All of our Flat Visitors arrived in time to celebrate with us a huge turkey dinner. It was great! We cooked up a turkey, with mashed potatos , green beans and made a nice salad.
We will be sending home with the Flat Travelers recipes in their Travel Scrapbooks of various meals that they shared while staying with us!

We have three flat travelers who have arrived to visit us. They have all arrived from various points in the USA.
Flat Anty from Jackson, Florida
Flat Kaysie from Brazoria, Texas
Flat Hopso from Florence, New Jersey
We will be updating as often as we can to share our adventures both with visitors that come to visit us and share in our Flat Travelers home school adventures with us.
Blessings, Kimberley

Canadian Pebble Craft
You can paint a river rock to make a wonderful patriotic pebble. They make great paperweights or decorations.
Supplies needed:
|
Choose a smooth, flat, elongated river rock and clean it
Paint the rock's top white. Let the paint dry.
Paint red stripes on both ends of the rock.
Paint a red maple leaf in the white central area. If you'd like a shiny finish, coat with an acrylic varnish after the paint has dried completely.

Flat Cat Craft for Kids- You can use this cute little cat to play a word game that teaches your children words that rhyme with “cat”. Children will love making their own flat cats to take home and help them learn to read.
What you will need: Two or three Styrofoam dinner plates or heavy duty paper plate for each cat, one small paper plate, acrylic paint, glue or staples, large paper clip, and sticky note paper or plain paper.

Draw a leaf on a piece of construction paper. Make sure to draw a thick stem on the top (your leaf will hang from this stem, which will be folded over). If you'd like, use a leaf template.
Cut out the leaf. Draw the leaf veins if you wish. Fold the leaf's stem in half.
Attach the leaf to a long string using tape, glue, or staples. Make more leaves and attach them to the string.
